Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 12 June 2026
These terms are provided in good faith for the Verql desktop application and the verql.arshadshah.com website. They are general terms, not legal advice; review them against the laws that apply to you before relying on them.
1. Acceptance
Section titled “1. Acceptance”By downloading, installing, or using Verql (“the Software”), or by using this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
2. License
Section titled “2. License”Verql is free and open-source software, licensed under the MIT License. The full text governs your rights and is available at github.com/arshad-shah/verql/blob/main/LICENSE. Subject to that license, you may use, copy, modify, and distribute the Software.
3. Your responsibilities
Section titled “3. Your responsibilities”You are responsible for how you use the Software, including:
- The databases and systems you connect it to, and having proper authorization to access them.
- The queries and operations you run. The Software can read, modify, and delete data in the databases you connect to. Always keep backups and verify destructive operations — you are responsible for the consequences of commands you execute.
- Complying with all laws and with any agreements that apply to the data and systems you access.
4. Third-party services and plugins
Section titled “4. Third-party services and plugins”The Software can interact with third parties that are not operated by us, for example AI providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or a local Ollama instance) and the database servers you connect to. It also supports third-party plugins.
Your use of any such third-party service or plugin is governed by that party’s terms and policies. We do not vet, endorse, or take responsibility for third-party services or plugins, the data you send to them, or the results they return. Install and use them at your own risk.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
Section titled “5. Disclaimer of warranties”THE SOFTWARE AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY DATA WILL BE SECURE OR NOT LOST.
6. Limitation of liability
Section titled “6. Limitation of liability”TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY — INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS — ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE.
Because the Software operates directly on your databases, you are solely responsible for backing up your data before performing operations that could modify or delete it.
7. Indemnification
Section titled “7. Indemnification”You agree to hold the authors and copyright holders harmless from any claims or demands arising out of your use of the Software, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
8. Changes to these terms
Section titled “8. Changes to these terms”We may update these terms as the Software evolves. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms, which will carry an updated “Last updated” date.
9. Governing law
Section titled “9. Governing law”These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which the author resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory local law provides otherwise.
10. Contact
Section titled “10. Contact”Questions about these terms can be raised at github.com/arshad-shah/verql/issues.
